Mistawasis First Nation SIBROM

Project details

  • Installation: 2016
  • Location:: Saskatchewan
  • System: Biological/Reverse Osmosis (SIBROM) system with dual RO trains
  • Permeate Flow Rate: 475 m3/day or 5.5 L/s

OVERVIEW

Mistawasis First Nation and it’s approximately 2,200 members are located west of Prince Albert in Saskatchewan. In addition to the residences, the community also has a school and a fire hall.

The community of Mistawasis has high levels of iron, ammonia, TOC, DOC, manganese, turbidity, and TDS in their raw water. Prior to installation of a new water treatment system, Sapphire Water ran a pilot study at Mistawasis for 48 days to ensure a SIBROM would effectively remove those contaminants. The results were used to optimize the SIBROM system, and highlighted that a full scale SIBROM could be fed directly from the wells. Sapphire Water installed a full scale SIBROM, including advanced automation as well as electrical systems.
