Biological Filtration Projects

Hundreds of rural communities in Canada must overcome hurdles to make their drinking water safe. Many deal with exceedingly poor-quality water sources and limited equipment, people, and financial resources to treat the water. Sapphire Water’s proprietary biological filtration process, the Sapphire Integrated Biological Reverse Osmosis Membrane system is a new alternative to conventional solutions to treat the extremely brackish water common throughout rural Canada.

Sapphire Water and Dr. Hans Peterson have further developed this process in several First Nations communities and can offer improved treatment efficiencies, reduced costs, and superior water quality. There are currently 18 SIBROM facilities in operation in First Nation communities in Canada, and several more under construction. Our older SIBROM installations have been operational for over a decade before requiring a membrane cleaning or a membrane replacement.
